If you uninstall

Uninstalling MomentBackup does nothing to your backups. They live on your storage — your drive, your NAS, your bucket — in a stable, documented layout, and the app never deletes a snapshot as part of going away.

Coming back

Reinstall the app, point it at the same destination, and your history is there: every snapshot browsable, everything restorable. For encrypted backups you’ll need your passphrase or recovery key — keep that key safe even while you’re not using the app.

Actually removing backups

If you genuinely want the space back, delete the MomentBackup folder on the destination (or the bucket contents) yourself — deliberately, by hand, after making sure nothing in it is the only copy of something you love. The app won’t do a silent bulk delete for you, and that’s by design.

Settings and local data

The app’s settings and its local index live in your user profile and are removed with a normal uninstall. The index is just a convenience copy — it’s rebuilt from the destination whenever needed, so losing it loses nothing.
